The Central Region Police have arrested a 70-year-old man for burying his two-year-old grandson alive.
The boy, who is also autistic, was buried at the shores of Dutch Komenda on Friday because he was considered a spirit child.
But for the timely intervention of the Police, he would have been dead.
In an interview with JoyNews, the Elmina Police Commander, Supt. Abraham Bansah, disclosed that the suspect Kwaku Baah repatriated the act under the direction of a spiritualist.
He added that the child's parents have also been arrested with the grandfather for conspiracy.
“All of them [the parents] have been arrested because they both conspired with the grandfather, Kwaku Baah, to do that. So they have all been arrested, and they are in our custody,” he said.
He also added that the Police are on a manhunt for the spiritualist for his role in the conspiracy.
“According to them, the child is a boy of special needs or something like that; so, they needed to get rid of the child. The advice was given to them by one ritualist called Kwaku Baa. He is on the run.”
Meanwhile, community residents have described the incident as barbaric and reprehensible.
