Three children have drowned in a pond created by sand winners at Akwasa Hills near Tuba in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
According to reports, the children were playing with their bicycles in the area when they fell into the dugout.
However, they could not make their way out of the opening filled with water.
The deceased are 12-year-old Elisha Adu and his 9-year-old brother, Samuel Adjei Mensah aka Tawiah and one other, Isaac Amoah, 8.
The bodies have been conveyed by the Weija Divisional Police Command ahead of the autopsy at the Police Hospital in Accra.
In an interview with Adom News, some of the residents who helped retrieve the boys from the abandoned dam said several complaints have been made to Ga South Municipal Assembly over the canker.
However, the pleas have fallen on deaf ears so far.
At the boys’ residences sorrow is the predominant sentiment as family members gathered in wailing over the tragedy.
The mother of Elisha and Samuel is shocked by the development.
