Asante Kotoko took a step closer to clinching the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title following their narrow win over Hearts of Oak on Sunday.
Franck Mbella Etouga stepped up and converted from the penalty spot after the league leaders were awarded a controversial penalty at the Baba Yara Stadium, giving the Porcupine Warriors all three points.
Elsewhere at the Accra Sports Stadium, Great Olympics defeated Aduana Stars with a 2-1 scoreline with Maxwell Abbey Quaye scoring late in the encounter to give the home team a needed victory.
Eleven Wonders held Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams as they played out a 1-1 game while Berekum Chelsea also beat Legon Cities at home.
Emmanuel Owusu scored late in the game between Bechem United and Bibiani Gold Stars as the Hunters continued their pursuit of league leaders, Kotoko. The goal was the 21-year-old's second goal in the top-flight since joining the club for the second half of the season.
King Faisal, on the road, lost to bottom-rocked Elmina Sharksas their winless run continued over the weekend. Medeama also beat Real Tamale United with a 2-1 scoreline in Tarkwa.
The weekend's results mean Kotoko maintain their eight points lead at the top of the league table while Bechem fill the second spot.
