Popular afrobeats musician, Andrew Nii Commey Otoo, known by the stage name Mr. Drew, says that he hoped for more nominations at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards than he got.
He made this known in an interview with Doreen Avio on Daybreak Hitz when he was asked what he makes of his nominations in this year's edition of the awards.
In his response, the Highly Spiritual Music signee said he looked forward to more than what he got as he anticipated nominations in the ‘Highlife Song of the Year’ and ‘Album of the Year’ categories.
"I wanted more, as much as I could get. From my album, I was expecting some more – ‘Highlife Song’ featuring Kwabena Kwabena and, my album should have also been there", he said
He went on to state that even though he missed out on the two aforementioned categories, he is satisfied with the five nominations he got and, that he can secure more nominations in those categories in the future so far as he keeps working hard.
When quizzed on the category he wishes to win, he mentioned the ‘Collaboration of the Year’ and the ‘Afrobeats Song of the Year’.
"Collaboration of the Year, 'Sefa ‘Echoke’ featuring myself'. It's been a year since we released the song and it's been doing well and, 'Afrobeats Artiste of the Year' but Kidi go worry me", he stated.
Mr. Drew has been nominated in the ‘Best Hiplife Song of the Year’, ‘Video of the Year’, ‘Best Afropop Song of the Year’, ‘Afropop/Afrobeats Artiste of the Year’ and ‘Best Collaboration of the Year’ category for this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The event is scheduled to come off on the 6th and 7th of May at the Grand Arena.
