An aspiring General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, says he will ensure that future appointees of government under their administration are chosen from the constituency executives.
He said this during his campaign across the country, during which he met delegates to discuss his plans and proposed policies with them.
"As your General Secretary, my interest is to put the party first, you the people are the living organs of this party, your survival will mean the party will survive,” he said.
“And for that to happen, means you must be rewarded, I will lobby the future president, John Dramani Mahama, to appoint all the MMDCEs from among you, our constituency executives. I hope to push for some presidential staffers to come from here, so that the party can be strong at the base”.
The Agricultural Economist who is vying to be elected as the General Secretary of the party to replace Johnson Asiedu Nketia who he has worked with as his deputy in the last four (4) years, has been campaigning across the country where he outlined the 10-point campaign message dubbed “10 point agenda for action 2024”.
In his message to the delegates, the policy analyst called for a united party, building a ballot protection unit and establishing constituency business programmes for all constituencies across the country.
The race for the NDC General Secretary position is being run by three party stalwarts; Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, former parliamentary candidate of Ketu South and the current director of elections in the NDC, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah.
The party commenced its reorganization exercise sometime in June and completed its constituency elections across the country on October 20 to 22.
The regional leadership contest is slated for Friday, November 11, 2022 while the national elections are expected to be held in December.
