The much-anticipated 2022 edition of the JoyFM Nine Lessons and Carols, came off Wednesday evening, December 21, and brought Heavenly joys to the hearts of patrons, many of whom observed the episode with the solemn mien required.
The Birth of Christ remembrance turned out to be a great gathering of clients, ardent listeners and viewers of all the Joy brands in the Multimedia Group Limited.
The event took place at the Labadi Beach Hotel and was lined with beautiful songs and carols by the Joyful Way Incorporated, MOG, Kofi Owusu Peprah and Celestine Donkor, who led the sweet tunes to demonstrate Christ at work.
Joyful way incorporated with the classic 'Osaberima' started the evening off, carefully picking hit after hit that reminded the celebrants of Christ and His amazing birth story.
Minister Kofi Owusu Prepah followed soon, entering with 'O come, O Come Emmanuel' along with his three amazing backing vocalists with their angelic voices.
He set revellers on the path to get into the Christmas mood.
'Oh be lifted' by Pastor Nana Yaw Boakye, popularly known as MOG electrified the audience from their seats to the dance floor. His performance equally left patrons in high spirits.
Then came Celestine Donkor who took to the stage with an unexpected rendition of songs wives sing to express their contentment with their husbands for housekeeping money. Of course everyone laughed.
That soon gave way to her well-coordinated remix of Agbebolo (Bread of life) which left revelers clapping and asking for more.
It is said that the best dancers are to be encountered at Carols events. I agree, for I saw dance moves I hadn't seen in years.
Indeed the Bible story of Christ’s birth came alive- through the songs, scripture readings and admonition. One could ‘see’ the wise men, the manger and its depiction of humility, and above all the Baby Saviour.
Present at the event were McDan, Mark Okraku Mantey, musician and social critic A Plus, former footballer, Laryea Kingston and musician Samini.
Here are pictures and videos from the event.
