Clinical Psychologist and Lecturer at the University of Ghana Medical School, Seth Asafo, has said that sex is one of the best stress relievers and is good for the mental wellbeing of every individual.
Speaking on Prime Morning with Asieduwaa Akumia about mental wellness, he indicated that if done for good purposes, it can help ease stress and relax the body.
According to him, connecting the immune system with artificial products to boost one’s sexual acts stresses the body more.
"Sex is a great stress-relieving tool for the right reasons. If you, on the other hand, decide to have sex where you lace your system with all these aphrodisiacs, sadly, you’re stressing your body. So if you’re having sex in your normal capacity as a human being and you’re enjoying it, that’s great. It helps calm you down," he explained.
Mr. Seth Asafo stated that having sex naturally helps relax the muscles.
He further indicated that it can be stressful when one uses sex as a means of conquest instead of relaxation and pleasure. He said the thought process behind the action is important.
He is of the opinion that "If you’re having sex to impress, what you’re doing is a performance anxiety."
Addressing the issue of how to deal with relationship stress, the psychologist noted that prioritizing one’s self is a determinant of how a person should be treated.
He said, "The kind of energy that you give out is exactly the same way you’re treated by people."
He believes that when one prioritises themselves and stops thinking about what the world brings, they will thrive in everything.
