JoyNews Editor, Fred Smith, has called on government to as a matter of urgency recondition the Accra- Tema motorway.
He said this while explaining the severe damage on the road and how it has killed many road users over the years.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show, he stated that the motorway is no longer safe for people to travel on it and gets frustrating by the day since its one of the major roads here in Ghana.
According to Mr Smith, government has made several promises with regard to this issue, but none has materialised.

“As someone who is into health, I believe that victims of these numerous accidents end up in the hospital and that puts huge pressure on our health facilities,” he said on Monday.
The Editor indicated that they have sent reports to government and will continuously highlight the situation to create more awareness on the road till it is attended to.
“From today till the end of the week or maybe more, we will be highlighting the situation there and to try and get the Road Minister, the President must hear this as well. The Finance Minister, if he has to get money from wherever, we need to fix the motorway to keep people alive” he stated.
He added that not all the problems on the motorway have to do with money, he stated that the dangerous and inappropriate parking of heavy duty trucks on the road contributes to this.
He urged the government to treat the matter with utmost urgency and be serious about removing all the dangers on the motorway to protect innocent lives.
