A radio show host with Dagbon Radio, Sadiq Abubakari Gariba, was attacked while hosting a live show at Tamale in the Northern Region.
He was assaulted by the region's Former Deputy Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hardi Pagazaa, who stormed the facility and started an altercation.
Prior to the incident, the panel had been having a discussion about the Ghana National Fire Service in the region.
"What have I done to you?” the NDC member is heard saying after they barged in.
Mr Pagaza was in the company of another man who also shouted, “Stop mentioning his name if you don’t want to die.”
He was captured in the video stream holding the broadcaster by the neck in an attempt to drag him out of the studio.
The scuffle grew intense as the presenter fought off the man.
Meanwhile, Sadiq Abubakari Gariba told JoyNews that he had opened the show with an audio clip of the former NDC officer talking about him and had decided not to respond.
“Before I started the show I played a tape in which he mentioned me on a sister station. So I said, 'No, this guy is not worth commenting on. I will not comment on him because he does not seem to be credible, and I do not want to discuss such people on my show," he said on JoyNews' News Desk.
The victim added that he has reported the matter to the Police.
