The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is confident next year's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will present Ghana a realistic chance of finally reclaiming the trophy, because of similar weather conditions between Ghana and tournament hosts, Ivory Coast.
Ghana shares a border with Ivory Coast on its west side.
The country has still not qualified to the competition - after a goalless stalemate with Madagascar - but ahead of the final window in September, Prosper Harrison Addo, GFA General Secretary, is already confident the Black Stars could win it all.
“The weather and everything [in Ivory Coast] suits us, so we're hoping to qualify and go and win the cup,” he said to Asempa FM.
The last time the Black Stars played in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations was in 2015, where they lost to Ivory Coast on penalties.
A draw or win over Central Africa Republic in the final round of qualifiers, will send Ghana into the Afcon finals.
