The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has cautioned the public against falling for claims that they are carrying out a recruitment exercise.
In a press release on Thursday, the EC stated that the advertisement circulating on various social media platforms are untrue.
“The attention of the Electoral Commission has been drawn to an advertisement circulating on various social media platforms to the effect that the Commission is undertaking a recruitment exercise,” parts of the statement read.
“The General Public is informed that the Commission is NOT carrying out any recruitment exercise. The Public is advised to disregard the said advertisement,” the EC noted.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission says it is prepared for the Assin North by-election on Tuesday, June 27.
Following a Supreme Court ruling that ousted former MP James Gyakye Quayson as an elected member of parliament, the Assin North seat became vacant.
The court held that his election was null and void because, at the time, he filed to contest, he owed allegiance to another country contrary to Ghanaian laws.
Nonetheless, the NDC has backed the ousted MP to contest again despite on ongoing criminal trial against him.
