Ghanaian gospel musician Joe Mettle has advised fledgling artistes to have mentors.
Speaking at the VGMA Music Summit on June 22, 2023 he noted that one of the ways of getting better in one’s job is to also take inspiration from people who have done it before.
“In my generation we don’t understand service at all. Unfortunately the internet has given us access to certain level of knowledge to the moment we grab it we assume that we know it all. We don’t know how to learn from others who have gone ahead of us, we don’t know how to serve others who know more than we do.
He said the up and coming ones may be better than the older ones but because they have been through it all there still have the experience that the younger ones lack.
“They have experience that you don’t have. Sometimes some of the things you are struggling with are just a phone call away,” he noted.
Joe Mettle who has won a number of local and international awards, including the Artistes of the Year at the 2017 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is one of the forerunners in the gospel music industry in Ghana.
He held the 11th edition of his Praise Reloaded concert on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at the Oil of the Royal House Chapel in Accra.
The event saw performances from other musicians like Dunsin Oyekan, Bethel Revival Choir, Pastor Edwin Dadson, among others.
