The Aboabo highway in Kumasi came to a standstill as a group of commercial tricycle riders expressed their strong opposition to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly's (KMA) restrictions.
The protest has brought tension between the riders and the KMA, raising concerns about traffic disruptions.
The protest action was taken by the tricycle riders as a means to resist the KMA's decongestion exercise, which sought to limit their operations within a specific zone in the city.

This move, they believe, hampers their ability to operate effectively and undermines their livelihoods.
Motorists and commuters have been left stranded in traffic as leaders in Zongo Communities attempt to restore order.
However, the police have since withdrawn, leaving the Zongo Community authorities to work towards restoring normalcy.
Leaders from the community have actively intervened to prevent the youth from burning tires in the middle of the road, a measure aimed at maintaining order and preventing further disruptions.
As tensions remain high, the situation underscores the challenges arising from local government efforts to decongest urban areas.
Member of Parliament for Asewase constituency, Muntaka Mubarak has successfully convinced the protesters to move to Aboabo park.
