A flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has listed a litany of grievances against the party in its recent Super Delegates Conference.
Alan who failed to impress in the election to whittle down the number of flagbearer aspirants from 10 to 5, (he came 3rd), on September 5, 2023 announced his withdrawal from the final flagbearership race scheduled for November 4.
In his statement announcing his withdrawal, he cited several infractions, including assault, violence and a skewed process as part of the grounds for the action.
He wondered how the party could resort to this degeneration.
“The question I keep asking myself is, 'How did we get here as a Party in the first place, and how far are we prepared to tread on this dangerous path to self-destruction?”’
Among his complaints were that:
a. The Special Delegates Conference was strategically and tactically skewed in favour of one particular aspirant.
b. Unfortunate pronouncements made by some leading Members of the Party both before and after the elections.
c. The level of intimidation of varying intensity, directly and indirectly, unleashed on a significant number of delegates at various Voting Centers across the 16 regions.
d. That his Polling Agent in the North East region has suffered severe damage to his eyesight after he was assaulted, and
e. Various acts of violence and collusion, as reported in other Voting Centres.
