The Director of Road Safety and Environment, Joseph Atsu Amedzake says the authority is in the process of fixing the deplorable state of the motorway.
According to him the authority is to engage a contractor for ground work to start in about three weeks.
“I think by now processes are far advanced for a contractor to be engaged to address all those potholes, so I think next two to three weeks, you will see some activities being carried out on the motorway to address all these distresses on the motorway surface,” he said.
The Director also addressed the concern of malfunctioning traffic lights on the roads saying that he has engaged the street lights contractor and has tasked him to primarily focus on installing solar powered streetlights at the toll booth areas.

“So principally, we would be looking at the toll booth section to enhance visibility there and the next stage would be to tackle other sections of the motorway where we need to put the street lights to enhance visibility, so it will be taken care of,” he assured.
The Tema Motorway, which used to be one of the best roads in Ghana, has deteriorated over the years and is now in a terrible state. The road is riddled with potholes and caused several accidents.
