A comment Sarkodie made about singer Cina Soul’s vocal prowess about seven months ago has surfaced online.
The celebrated rapper, earlier in the year, commended Cina Soul for her unbridled singing abilities during an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz 103.9 FM.
Explaining his choice of Cina Soul for one of the songs on his ‘Jamz’ album, ‘Over Me’, the ‘Highest’ rapper said “I think she is actually extremely good. Soul’s voice is like something that can represent us on an international scale.”
Sarkodie, therefore, expressed optimism in Cina Soul’s global visibility.
“I know she’s gonna get there. I don’t know which song [will take her there]. When I saw King Promise I knew. But I didn’t know how. But I knew he was gonna be huge. And Cina Soul has that approach,” he noted.
This comes on the back of a recent comment made by entertainment journalist and panelist Sally Mann about Cina Soul on The Darling Factor music reality show that airs on Adom TV.
Sally, while assessing the vocal delivery of a contestant that performed Cina Soul’s song, advised her not to sound like Cina.
She went ahead to say Cina Soul was overrated.
“I don’t know if you wanted to sound like Cina Soul. But your vocal range is beautiful. You could have done it like the way you do it all the time.
Be yourself. There can only be only one Diana. That’s you, and your vocal ability is beautiful. You didn’t need to sound like Cina Soul because for me I think Cina Soul is one person that has been overrated in Ghana,” she said.
Sally's statement has ruffled some feathers; it has generated conversations on various social media platforms. While some are bashing her for describing Cina Soul as “overrated”, others think her opinion was harmless.
In the meantime, Cina Soul has hinted at replying to Sally’s comment with a song.
A teaser of the song titled ‘Plenty Evil’ which was shared on Cina’s social media handles on Sunday, September 17, 2023, starts with Sally’s ‘overrated’ comment.
It is scheduled for release on Thursday, September 21, 2023.
Cina Soul is known for songs like ‘Ojorley’, ‘Feelings’, ‘Die 4 You’, ‘Killi Me’, among others.
Apart from featuring on Sarkodie’s ‘Over Me’, her performance on Akwaboah’s ‘Obiaa’ is one that has won her spurs among her peers.
