Ghanaian travellers to South Africa can now apply for visas online, the South African High Commission in Accra has announced.
It follows South Africa’s addition of Ghana to its E-Visa list, and means that Ghanaian nationals will no longer be required to visit the South African High Commission to process visa applications.
A statement issued Thursday to officially announce the decision, said comprehensive details and guidelines on the online visa application process are available on its website at www.dha.gov.za.
The statement noted that despite the convenience of the online application process, certain standard requirements must still be met, including providing passport details, a letter of invitation or proof of accommodation, and a valid bank statement.
These documents will be verified upon arrival at a designated point of entry.
The statement said in order, to facilitate a smooth transition to this new visa application process, the VFS Global Office will reach out to applicants whose passports have been at the High Commission for long periods.
The inclusion of Ghana in the E Visa list aligns with global trends in digitalization, making the visa application process more accessible, efficient, and convenient for travellers.
Ghana adds to a growing number of countries currently eligible for South Africa’s E-visa. They include:
- Cameroon
- Nigeria
- DR Congo
- Uganda
- China
- Ethiopia
- Sao Tome and Principe
- Seychelles
