The University of Ghana chalked success at the 2023 Rugby and Tennis Federation of Africa University Sports (FASU) Championship in Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, after winning seven out of eight gold medals.
The team arrived at the Kotoka International Airport on Monday, October 9, following their impressive run in Uganda.
UG claimed gold medals in the Men's Singles, Mixed Doubles, Men's Doubles, Men's Team, Women's Doubles and Women's Team events to mark a successful campaign.
The team also clinched silver medals in the Women's Singles and Mixed Doubles events making it nine medals in total.
The University of Ghana was represented by six student-athletes, one student leader and four officials.
Speaking upon their arrival, the Director of Sports at the University, Dr Bella Bello Bitugu expressed delight with the performance of the team at the Championship.
"I am extremely proud of these young men and women. Their resilience, commitment and focus - I am extremely proud and I feel fulfilled together with my team," he told the media.

"I feel that the administration at the Sports Directorate of the University of Ghana is certainly doing something very correct and very right. Our policies, our strategies; the University of Ghana Policy on the
Admission of Athlete Students, the University of Ghana sports fund, the support that the senior managers give us because they are convinced of what we are doing..."
According to him, success is a reward for the investment the school continues to make.
"For me and for us, it is a manifestation and a confirmation of the fruits and the benefits of the silent and patient investment in these young men and women," he added.
"That is for me how I feel and what I feel."
Next for the University of Ghana is the West African University Games which is scheduled for December 2023.
