Black Stars forward, Inaki Williams, has expressed his eagerness to score his debut goal for Ghana against Mexico in an international friendly.
Ghana's senior national team will play Mexico on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the Bank of America stadium, and the Athletico Bilbao striker hopes to use the game to find his scoring boots in Black Stars colours.
The 29-year-old has played nine matches for the Black Stars since switching nationality from Spain in July, 2022, without finding the back of the net.
He has scored four goals for club side, Athletic Bilbao and provided two assists in this season’s Spanish La Liga.
“For us, it a very important match. All Ghanaian people support us and I am going to do everything to score my first goal,” Inaki told the press ahead of the Mexico clash.
“It is not easy for me because I don't have a lot of matches with my teammates but this is football. I enjoy the football, I enjoy the games and I am going to do everything to score my first goal.”
The upcoming clash will be the fourth meeting between Ghana and Mexico. The Black Stars are yet to win in the previous three encounters.
Inaki, who has played alongside Mexican teammates at club level, acknowledges the challenge.
"Mexico have very hard people, very hard teammates and this match is not easy for us but Ghana has got very good players and I'm going to enjoy the match."
The match comes off on Sunday at 12:30 am Ghana time.
