The Chief Executive Officer of the Trust Hospital, Dr. Juliana Ameh, is urging all relevant stakeholders to provide critical support to women battling breast cancer during these challenging economic times.
Breast cancer continues to affect countless lives especially women across the country amidst economic hardship. With women constituting more than 50 percent of the Ghanaian population, it is important to provide measures to alleviate the financial burden on breast cancer patients.
Dr. Juliana Ameh emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare for women facing this medical challenge and called for targeted measures to alleviate the financial burden on breast cancer patients.
Speaking at a press conference on the theme, “Managing together to close the care gap”, the CEO of Trust Hospital indicated that individuals and institutions should prioritise breast cancer care for women, recognising the potential toll of economic hardship on many individuals.
“The importance of women who constitute more than half of the adult population to socioeconomic development means that businesses, enterprises, policymakers and nonprofits must work together to build a formidable coalition against this threat to women’s lives and livelihood,” she explained.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo also stated that “education is a powerful tool and it empowers individuals to take charge of their health.
By educating ourselves and others, we break down barriers of fear and ignorance and equip individuals with the tools they need to make informed decisions about their health,” she added.
