Liberia's opposition party, the Unity Party, has taken a slim lead after the tallying of 92.8 percent of polling places.
The latest update of the National Election Commission puts Unity Party's Joseph Boakai 885 votes ahead of incumbent President George Mannah Weah.
Nana Yaw Gyimah who has been monitoring the elections indicated that results from the NEC's tallying Centre put Joseph Boakai's votes at 748,463, representing 43.7 percent of votes.
Incumbent, George Mannah Weah of the Coalition for Democratic Change follows closely with 43.65 percent of votes cast.
Closest to the top two is Edward Appleton Junior with 2.16 percent of votes.
The seventeen others share the rest of the votes counted.
The total votes tallied stands at 1,818,540, representing 73.58 percent of registered voters.
With 423 polling places to go, many are anticipating a run-off in the election.
But the Economic Community of West African States wants supporters of all political parties to remain calm as results continue to trickle in.
Meanwhile, observer missions continue to laud Liberians for the peace maintained during the election period.
