First Sky Group Limited, a leading Ghanaian conglomerate, has stepped forward to provide hope to the flood-affected communities within the three Tongu Districts.
Recognizing the urgent need for assistance following the devastating floods that have ravaged the Tongu districts as a result of the Akosombo and Kpong hydro dams spillage, First Sky Group Limited has donated a significant sum of 1 million Ghana Cedis worth of relief items to aid the affected communities.
Eric Seddy Kutortse, Chairman of First Sky Group Limited, has also pledged his personal support to the affected communities.
Chairman Kutortse emphasized the importance of solidarity during such trying times, stating, "Our hearts go out to the people of the three Tongu Districts who have endured the hardships of recurrent flooding.
"We believe in the strength of communities coming together to support one another during challenging times. We are committed to standing by your side and helping you rebuild your lives."
"We were touched by the plights of the people and needed to help them in the best way we can to alleviate their plights and we as a group of companies will make sure that the people are given the needed support to pull through at this critical moment," Mr Kutortse added.
The three Tongu Districts, which include North Tongu, South Tongu, and Central Tongu, have experienced flooding due to the spillage of the Akosombo dam with devastating effects on homes, infrastructure, and the local economy.
The MP for the area, Samuel Ablakwa Okudzeto, was grateful for the kind gesture and pledged that the items would be distributed evenly among the affected people to help them alleviate their plights.
The DCE for North Tongu, Divine Osborn Fenu said he is overwhelmed by the show of love from the First Sky Group Limited and urged organisations to emulate the gesture and do same.
Residents were excited about the donation.
