Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci says she remains a Guinness World Record holder, despite a new cook-a-thon achievement by Irish chef, Alan Fisher.
She was responding to the recent announcement by Guinness World Records regarding Alan Fisher's claim to the title of the longest cooking marathon in history.
The 26-year-old secured the record for the longest individual cooking marathon, with an impressive time of 93 hours and 11 minutes, following a meticulous review of all evidence by Guinness World Records.
However, Guinness World Records' recent statement on its official website revealed that Alan Fisher has surpassed Hilda Baci's previous record, setting a new astonishing cooking marathon record of 119 hours and 57 minutes at his restaurant in Japan.
This achievement effectively dethroned Hilda Baci from her position.
Upon the official acknowledgment of Fisher's new record, the Nigerian chef promptly updated her social media bios, following a tradition observed by Chef Lata from India, who did the same when her record was surpassed earlier in the year.
“Just as Chef Lata respectfully acknowledged the new record holder by updating her bio and later fine-tuning the wording I’ve adjusted mine too.”

Acknowledging the significant effort and dedication required to achieve such a feat, Hilda Baci said, “Achieving such a record is no small feat, and I know this firsthand. I have only the greatest admiration for the hard work it took for Alan to reach such heights. Sportsmanship is about recognising progress, whether the accolade is in my bio or not. I remain a record holder in spirit and in history. Let’s celebrate achievement and the spirit of competition.”
In a separate post on platform X, Hilda Baci expressed her gratitude for having held such a prestigious and profound record. She conveyed her eternal gratitude for the support and love received.
Additionally, she extended her congratulations to Alan Fisher, acknowledging his monumental achievement.
“Huge congratulations to Alan Fisher! 119hrs 57mins is a huge achievement, and I wish him all the best as the new world record holder.”
