The absence of a jury forced the Kumasi High Court to adjourn the hearing of a case in which a police inspector is standing trial over the murder of his girlfriend at Adum in Kumasi.
Inspector Ahmed Twumasi of the Police Special Weapons and Tactics Unit is accused of shooting his girlfriend, a 27-year-old mother of one, Victoria Dapaah, also known as Maa Adwoa, multiple times at close range with a service rifle on April 20, 2023.
He has since been slapped with a murder charge.
But the 7-member jury abandoned the courts on Monday, November 13, 2023, over unpaid allowances since last year.
The court, however, granted a request by the prosecution to allow the Ghana Institute of Languages to transcribe a piece of Twi audio evidence on a pen drive tendered in court.
