The Police are actively pursuing suspects linked to a violent disturbance that took place during the just-ended District Assembly Election in the Senya Electoral Area in the Awutu Senya West Constituency of the Central Region.
The disturbance resulted in the injury of one person.
The Police in a Facebook post noted the suspects caused damage to electoral materials.
In response, a Police reinforcement team intervened and restored order in the electoral area.
They also assured that the perpetrators will be apprehended and brought to justice.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission on Tuesday suspended the election in the affected Electoral area, with a new date yet to be communicated.
The EC scheduled Tuesday, December 19, 2023 for the election of Assembly Members and Unit Committee members.
The Commission has rescheduled the district-level elections in some electoral areas in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions.
The EC says this is due to technical challenges involving the printing of ballots by its contractors.
