A husband’s support is the dream of every woman.
It is already day 4 since Northern Regions Chef Failatu Abdul-Razak began her journey to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.
She has received massive support from the north and Ghana at large, but her husband has undoubtedly contributed hugely to her progress from the conceptualisation stage of the decision to attempt the record.
Since the first day of the cook-a-thon, Mr Abdul-Razak has not slept just like his wife to ensure the safety of her wife. As a trained military officer, he can maintain the stamina of not sleeping all day and night due to the training he has been through.
However, his wife might struggle to pull through on the journey, even though she was thoroughly trained to face the challenge.
Speaking to Joy Prime on day 3 of the marathon as to whether he is worried about his wife, Mr Abdul Razak said he wishes to replace his eyes with her wife’s so she could complete the attempt with ease.
“If I tell you I’m not worried, I would be lying to you. We, the military, are okay when it comes to sleepless nights. I haven’t been sleeping either, and I wish I could give my eyes to my wife,” he told Martina Bugri, the reporter.
Regardless of the challenges, Mr Abdul Razak strongly trusts that his wife is capable of completing her adventure because she is resilient and daring, considering other endeavours she has been involved in.
“I know she can do it regardless of anything. She has to just listen to her medical team, and she’ll be able to do it. The body is trying to reject the fact that she hasn’t slept for days, but within a few hours she will be okay,” he added.
He assures the world to watch out for more intriguing projects from his wife, as she looks forward to achieving more things even after completing the record attempt.
Chef Faila’s marathon is currently underway at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale and is broadcast live on Joy Prime and streamed on its social media platforms. She has kept the Northern Regional Capital, Tamale, alive since day 1 and has attracted a lot of people across Ghana who are interested in having a taste of Ghana’s local dishes as the chef cooks them.
The Tamale-based chef initially wanted to climax the journey within five days but has changed her decision as she is expected to break Ugandan Chef Dorcus Mirembe, aka Mama D, who awaits official confirmation from Guinness World Records judges after successfully attempting to break the individual record for the longest cook-a-thon on December 31, 2023.
Chef Faila has passed 90 hours and is closer to surpassing Nigeria’s Hilda Baci’s record of 93:40:11 in her ongoing Guinness World Records Cook-a-Thon within the fourth day and focusing on Mama D’s record. Chef Faila is still energised to cook more until she breaks and sets her record.
Ghanaians are urged to continue to rally support around the chef as she thrusts Ghana’s culture through food to the world. God will surely see her through.
