The ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries at Yendi constituency in the Northern Region has been marred by confusion.
The confusion is reported to have started after a supporter of an opponent, Abibata Shani Mahama Zakaria, accused the Electoral Commission (EC) officer of using indelible ink to spoil the ballots of his favourite candidate.
According to JoyNews' Martina Bugri, during this confrontation other NPP supporters who had gathered at the scene joined and caused chaos, bringing the electoral process to a halt.
She reports that, currently all the ballots have been destroyed while other properties at the scene were vandalised.
The EC official was also beaten to a pulp and media personnel attacked.
Meanwhile, the police have apprehended some perpetrators.
