A 26-year-old nurse is battling for her life after her ex-boyfriend stabbed her multiple times following an altercation at Pramso, a suburb of Sweduru in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti region.
Comfort Oppong received kitchen knife wounds in the abdomen, lower and upper parts of the arms, resulting in heavy loss of blood.
Her attacker, Kwasi Asuman, who attempted to take his own life after the incident, is also battling for his life at the Emergency Cente of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
Little did Comfort know that her refusal to allow her ex-boyfriend to spend the night at her place could spark an attack on her.
Asuman, who broke up with Comfort about five months ago, had returned on January 27, 2024 under the guise of visiting the one-and-a-half year-old child he fathered with the victim and demanded to spend the night with his ex-girl friend.
But Comfort turned down the request.
What started as a small argument between the once lovers then turned bloody when Asuman stabbed Comfort seven times on the thighs and stomach with a kitchen knife, leaving her with multiple wounds.
She was rescued by neighbours, who sent her to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
“My daughter called, gave the phone to Akwasi and talked him through. Yet, after minutes I could hear my daughter scream. I came to the hospital to meet with bandages all over her,” Vincent Kofi Frimpong, Comfort’s father, said.
Meanwhile, Akwasi Asuman, who attempted to take his life after committing the act, was admitted alongside his ex-girlfriend at the same facility.
All attempts to speak to the medical staff at KATH proved futile.
Comfort, however, has been discharged.
