Young Ghanaian teenager, Adjoa Gyaba Appiah Kubi, is on a mission to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment for her peers and the entire Ghanaian population. Recognizing the critical importance of environmental conservation in today's world, Adjoa has stepped up as an ambassador for change, leading the charge for improved sanitation practices in her community.

The young Ghanaian teenager says he has a vision to make the Ghanaian environment conducive for her peers and the rest of the Ghanaian population. Her drive for a clean environment has propelled her to an ambassadorial position, situating her as a champion of environmental change. Currently, she is the diplomat for the Child Sanitation Project, an initiative powered by World Vision Ghana.

During a recent meeting with Central Regional Minister, Justina Marigold Assan, Adjoa's visionary efforts were lauded and praised.

“This is a young lady who has distinguished herself so well. She had put herself out there for the task when this project commenced a year ago. It is admirable to see a young woman, poised to do something for herself and for her region.”

The Regional Minister emphasized Adjoa's vision and expressed her readiness to support her in her ambassadorial role whenever the need arises.

“Adjoa's main concern is toilet facilities in basic schools. While some of these schools lack the facilities, some others that possess them have left them poorly managed. Her aim now is to bring sponsors on board to fix this problem, be an advocate and educate people, students, on why proper and clean toilet facilities are essential. And we at the Regional Coordinating Council are here to fully support this vision,” the minister stated.

Justina marigold Assan called on the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies as well as other organizations in the region to put all hands-on deck to help Adjoa realize her vision.

To young Adjoa, a proper and well-managed toilet facility in schools contributes immensely to good academic results as detriments of bad toilet facilities in schools to the students are curbed drastically.

Adjoa said, “I want to collaborate with sponsors to raise awareness on the importance of good toilet facilities,” she says. “Many schools lack them, especially many basic schools and schools in the remote areas. It is my vision to fix this unfortunate situation. This vision transcends to a national level and we are beginning in the Central region.”

The WASH technical specialist of World Vision Ghana explained that the Child Sanitation Project is aimed at encouraging children to be more interested in environmental sanitation to achieve positive impact, building their capacity and empowering them to create sustainable sanitation solutions, and helping them to be advocates of improved sanitation.

"Environmental sanitation is of high essence due to many significant factors and with young ones such as Adjoa taking up the mantle to be champions of this cause, the world can be rest assured that the future is environmentally safe," he stated.
