George Mensah Britton has called on talent managers to pay critical attention to the health of their artistes.
Speaking to Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, George, the manager of Afrobeats artiste Camidoh indicated that the health of his artiste has always been of prime importance to him.
“As a manager it is your duty to cater for the artiste regardless of whichever situation you are in. I mean from health to performance to everything else, it is your duty as a manager to make sure that everything the product that you are selling is in the best of shape.
So I need to be concerned about the food that we eat. So I don’t have to say before I met Camidoh, he was drinking water so I need to keep giving him water. The level keeps growing. Yesterday, we performed at Anyinam, today we are performing at New York. So we need to grow and how do we grow? We need to be physically, mentally and spiritually healthy," he said.
George who also revealed that his artiste Camidoh had suffered depression stated how dedicated he was in making sure he was catered for by a specialist.
Speaking contributing to the topic 'Creative and their Health', he said generally talent managers have not done a good job in caring for the health of their clients.
"Listening to what Okyeame Kwame and the doctors have said, I think we [talent managers] are not doing a good job," he noted.
The episode on Showbiz A-Z had various professionals speak to how important it is for creatives to be physically and mentally sound. The show hosted Dr. Nana Danquah Nuamah, a psychiatrist at the Pantang Hospital; Dr. Joseph Bennin, a physician at the Donsoman Clinic, and Wise Letsa, a dietician.
