As part of their reward for winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Cote d'Ivoire will take home a cash prize of $7 million.
The Elephants came from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory in the final of the competition against Nigeria on Sunday night.
William Troost-Ekong opened the scoring for the Super Eagles before second-half strikes from Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller sealed the win for the host nation.
The victory meant Emerse Fae's side clinched the AFCON trophy for the first time in the country's history, winning the gold medal and claiming the revised prize money.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced a 40% increase in the prize money for the winner ahead of the start of the competition.
Aside from the silver medal received for finishing second, Nigeria will also pocket $4 million.
The Super Eagles were hoping for a fourth AFCON title in Sunday's final but were left frustrated at the end of the game.
South Africa (third) and DR Congo (fourth) received $2.5 million each while the teams who exited in the quarterfinalists received $1.3 million.
Cote d’Ivoire now has the same number of #AFCON titles as Nigeria, and they are all one shy of Ghana’s four, of course.@Dani77k watched the Elephants overcome the Super Eagles in Abidjan and sums up everything that unfolded.#JoyAFCON | #AFCON2023 pic.twitter.com/s3RqVKo1aB
