The Ghana Meteorological Agency says it will drag the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) and the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority to court over a $10 million debt.
According to G-Met, the amount was supposed to be for a monthly payment of services rendered to the two institutions, which have accrued over four years.
Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday, Director-General of the Ghana Meteo Service, Eric Asumang said although the GACL has undertaken to pay the service charges moving forward, they are exploring legal options to retrieve the $10 million debt.
"I want to believe that when they call them they will comply and that may settle the court matter. If that fails then probably legal action will be taken.
"But even when it is resolved and they give us this letter it will be for the money to come to us, not the arrears.
"As for the arrears, at the latter part of the year, the board permitted to use legal means to collect those arrears," he told the Committee.
Meanwhile, the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has also indicated that it has rolled out what it calls Self-Employed Enrolment Drive to get more persons in the informal sector into the scheme.
According to Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang, Director General of SSNIT, it must get to a point where people can join the scheme from the comfort of their homes.
"If I look at the February payroll which was just paid; out of some two hundred and forty-five thousand pensioners that we pay only six hundred and thirty constituting 0.03% are people who have retired as self-employed persons.
"We see that we have a long way to go and this is the narrative that we want to change."
