Ghana Water Limited has announced that it will shut down two of its water supply stations in the Ashanti region on Thursday, February 29, 2024.
The company said the shutdown is due to the Electricity Company of Ghana’s planned maintenance services to the supply stations.
In a news release, the management of the company disclosed that the Barekese Water Treatment plant and Achiase booster station are the two stations to be affected.
It is expected that majority of households in the Greater Kumasi Metropolis will experience erratic water supply in the coming days.
The Electricity Company of Ghana served notice of cutting power to rework some facilities in areas around the treatment plants.
The maintenance works are expected to span for close to 12 hours.
Including Thursday’s shutdown, the planned maintenance is scheduled to happen also on 7th and 14th March 2024.
“Management regrets the inconvenience the challenge may cause and advises customers to store and judiciously use water to avert any severe impact during the shutdown dates,” the statement said.
