The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has issued an apology to passengers affected by power outages experienced at the Kotoka International Airport on Friday, March 1, 2024.
Passengers travelling to and from various destinations were left stranded on Friday [March 1] night due to power failures at the airport.
In a Facebook post dated March 2, GACL confirmed the incident and explained, stating that their backup generators, which typically start within 3–5 seconds of a power cut, took approximately 1 minute and 30 seconds to activate.
Management at GACL expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the outage and assured passengers of their commitment to delivering a seamless travel experience.
They also emphasised that steps are being taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
