Black Princesses head coach Yusif Basigi has praised the abilities of Comfort Owusu following Ghana's win over Tanzania in their second group game.
Ghana came from behind to record a 2-1 win over their counterparts at the Cape Coast Stadium in Group A of the ongoing African Games.
Tracey Twum scored on the stroke of halftime before Mukarama Abdulai scored the winner in the second period of the game.
One player who caught the attention of many was Comfort Owusu, who was deployed as a left-back in the game having played in the midfield in the first game against Ethiopia.
What can't Comfort Owusu do? Played as a left-back today and she's been brilliant all game.
She's been an unsung hero for the Black Princesses today against Tanzania.#AfricanGames— Lawrence Baidoo (@kweku_lawrence) March 12, 2024
Speaking after the game, Basigi explained the decision to play the Hasaacas Ladies midfielder as a makeshift defender.
"Comfort Owusu is a utility player. We use her as and when needed. Even when we have the complement of the team, we don't start her," Basigi said.
"She can play left-back, right-back, left attack, right attack. But for now, we have some injury concerns and we had to re-arrange the team because you could see our two centre-backs were not in the team...we had to re-adjust that is why we brought her to the left back."
The Black Princesses are through to the next stage of the competition despite having one more game to play in the group stage.
Two wins in two games means they sit top of Group A with six points, two behind Friday's opponent, Uganda.
