The Ayensuano District Court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of one Gertrude Oppong for disobeying an order to appear before court on two occasions.
The accused person, Gertrude Oppong, is facing trial for some derogatory statements she made against the Overlord of the Akyem Abuakwa State, Okyehene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, Kyebi Apapam Akwansrahene, Nana Baah and the Okyeman Land Protection Taskforce.
Gertrude Oppong is alleged to have made those remarks during a press conference on behalf of about 20 communities over the alleged seizure of their farmlands.
The accused is also facing criminal charges with some four counts including conspiracy to commit crime to wit offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace contrary to section 23(1) and 207 of the Criminal and Other Offense Act 1960, Act 29.
The court presided over by His Lordship Joseph Mensah issued a bench warrant for her arrest after she failed to appear before the court when the case was called.

Meanwhile, the Okyeman Akwansrahene, Barimah Asiedu Bekoe has reiterated that the Okyehene is the allodial title owner of all lands within the Akyem Abuakwa State spanning to Adoagyiri.
He has advised the public to be careful when dealing with real estate companies selling lands within the area.
Barima Asiedu Bekoe added that the Okyeman Taskforce will not relent on their effort to protect lands belonging to Akyem Abuakwa.
He said they will use all legal means to protect their property.
