Ghana is guaranteed four bronze medals in boxing at the ongoing 2023 African Games after four boxers secured places in the semifinal.
The boxing event started on Saturday and continued on Sunday at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
Abubakar Kamoko, the son of Bukom Banku, reached the semifinal of the 86kg cruiserweight event.
Olympic bronze medalist Samuel Takyi also secured a place in the semifinal after a first round knockout win over Morocco’s Mehdi Berchami.
Mohammed Aryeetey is also in the semifinal after recording a decision win over Zambia’s Maonga Nene in the 48kg event.
In the women’s category, Janet Acquah also booked her place in the semis.

The six who lost their bouts were Ramatu Quaye, Adelaide Djabartey, Sarah Apew, Alfred Kotey, Abdul Baki Adam and Jonathan Tetteh.
