Thieves have stolen bolts and nuts supporting the base of high-tension towers at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
At least eight towers have fallen to the ground, causing several hours of power outages in some communities.

The high-tension towers transmitting power from Anwomaso BSP to Akyawkrom Substation near Ejisu are affected.
Areas experiencing power outages include Bekwai, Anwiankwanta, Kumawu, Antoakrom, Manso Nkwanta, Jacobu and Samfo-Aduam.

Others are Ejisu, Onwe, Besease, Asotwe, Abankro, Baworo and environs.
Though engineers of ECG are working around the clock to address the issue, it is not clear when power will be restored in affected areas.
