Egypt has beaten Ghana on penalties to secure gold in the Men's Hockey final at the 2023 African Games.
The Ghanaian team had already suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Egyptians en route to the final.
On Friday, March 22, they again went down 2-0 to their North African opponents after two quarters through players Elganaini Ahmed and Adel Mohamed.
With the Egyptians stamping their authority early in the game, the hosts made a comeback very late in the game with two goals from Ntiamoah Alfred and Tettey Francis to secure a draw. This took the game straight to penalties.
But, Egypt won defeating Ghana on penalties with 3-2. Ghana scored two and missed three of their penalties while Egypt scored three and missed only two to see them crowned as champions in the hockey tournament.
