The Minority in Parliament has criticised President Akufo-Addo, accusing him of stalling the publication of KPMG report in its audit of the revenue mobilisation contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).
According to NDC MPs led by the Minority Leader, President Akufo-Addo's delay in addressing the report suggests a deliberate attempt to conceal what they describe as a "dubious" deal.
The Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson vowed that they will not tolerate any cover-up and are committed to ensuring that Parliament promptly investigates the matter.
Reflecting on President Akufo-Addo's 2024 State of the Nation address in Parliament, held on Monday, March 11, the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam lawmaker emphasised their determination to safeguard the public purse.
“When Parliament decided to investigate this matter, the president took over that matter and said he was investigating it in two weeks. As we speak, it is over a month, in fact, six weeks and Ghana is still waiting for the report.
“No matter how long it takes, Parliament will do its work by investigating this dubious SML contract awarded by GRA and the Finance Ministry,” said the Minority Leader.
A report by the Fourth Estate, alleged irregularities in a multi-million dollar contract awarded to SML by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
Despite the allegations, both the GRA and SML vehemently deny any wrongdoing. In response to the accusations, SML has taken legal action against the Fourth Estate alleging defamation.
