The University of Ghana (UG) Council has appointed Mr Joseph Maafo Budu as the new Registrar of the university, with effect from August 1, 2009.
Mr Budu, is currently the College Registrar of the College of Agriculture and Consumer Sciences of the university.
In a statement signed by Mrs Stella A. Amoa, the acting Public Affairs Director of the university, Mr Budu was employed as a Junior Assistant Registrar in 1977, promoted to Assistant Registrar in 1979, Senior Assistant Registrar in 1987 and Deputy Registrar in 1995.
Mr Budu is a product of Mfantsipim School in Cape Coast, after which he continued to the University of Ghana, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Statistics in 1976.
He has a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration and Educational Statistics from the Institute of Education, University of London, where he graduated in 1986.
The statement said, Mr Budu was instrumental in implementing computerised management information systems for three universities in the country from 1995 to 1998.
According to the statement, Mr Budu will succeed, Mr Alfred Konu, who is due to retire on Ju1y 31, 2009.
