The Ghana Police Service has taken immediate action by interdicting three police personnel for their failure to execute their duties professionally during the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise.
According to a statement released by the Police, Inspector Michael Addo, G/CONST Eric Boakye, and G/CONST Michael Gyan were relieved of their duties on 11th May 2024 due to their failure to handle security issues appropriately at the Electoral Commission Office in Adugyama, Ashanti region.
The incident occurred when certain individuals attempted to disrupt the registration process.
The interdicted officers will undergo the necessary disciplinary procedures within the Police Service.
In a related development, the Asutifi South MP, Alhaji Collins Dauda, has been arrested for his alleged involvement in disturbances that took place in Kukuom, Ahafo Region, during the same voter registration exercise on Saturday, May 11.
The incident resulted in one person sustaining injuries and receiving treatment at a hospital.
The police have stated that they are actively pursuing other suspects connected to the disturbance.
