Member of Parliament for Buem, Kofi Adams, has raised red flags about the ambulance spare parts deal that has drawn public concern.
According to Mr Adams, the speed with which funds were made available to the company he describes as inexperienced, Service Ghana Auto Group, smacks of irregularities.
“If you look at the speed at which money was made available to this inexperienced company to service our ambulances, something was happening somewhere, and that is absolutely not right,” he stated.
This comes after Mr Ablakwa raised an alarm about possible corruption in the deal, prompting him to petition the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
On Friday, the Ministry said the contract was originally signed by the now-defunct Ministry of Special Development Initiatives with Service Auto Group Ghana Limited.
The contract covered after-sales service and maintenance for 307 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 315 CDI ambulances secured by the government in 2019.
Mr Ablakwa questioned the legitimacy of Service Auto Group Ghana Limited, noting that the company was incorporated on April 24, 2020—one year after the ambulances were commissioned in 2019.
Speaking on Newsfile on Saturday, Kofi Adams agreed.
He insists that “The coincidences are just too much.”
