Media personality Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, popularly known as KKD, is of the view that beneficiaries of Ghana's malfunctioning system are bent on keeping the country down.
He noted that if one is in government and sees wrongdoing but cannot speak out, it is important to voice those concerns once out of government.
Against this backdrop, he commended Ghana's former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo for speaking out against the mismanagement of pension funds by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
Sophia Akuffo suggested that those managing SSNIT had deliberately run down some of the company's hotels to reduce their value and sell them out to cronies.
According to KKD, all the borrowing Ghana engages in has yielded no tangible results.
Speaking on the JoyNews AM show, KKD said, “There are people who are benefiting from the woes of Ghana. All this borrowing—what have we got to show for it? We need more of our elders to speak up, but I do not wait for no chief, no pastor, for nobody to speak up. I am the pastor of my household. I am the president of my family. If others would not speak. I will speak up.”
KKD said that a friend in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) cautioned him to be careful, warning that otherwise, he might not be able to get a job in Ghana.
According to him, he responded by saying that he prefers earning honest money so he can sleep well.
“And so these people would say be careful of the toes you step on today because they can be connected to the a** you have to kiss tomorrow. I will never kiss the a** of thieves.”
