Ghana-based international investment firm, Safewings Company Limited, has pledged to plant 10,000 tree seedlings as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility efforts to combat climate change and global warming.
This initiative is particularly significant given Ghana's current environmental challenges, where the country continues to lose part of its forest cover annually, according to Global Forest Watch (GFW).

The announcement by Safewings Company Limited, was made by its CEO, Dr. Richard Atuahene, during a meeting with Nana Yaw Osei-Darkwa, founding President of the Green Republic Project. This meeting reviewed the success of an initial sponsorship of 5,000 trees in 2018 by the former.
Nana Yaw Osei-Darkwa praised Dr. Richard Atuahene's dedication to the climate cause, noting that, the initial 5,000 trees funded by Safewings in 2018 in Yong Dakpam Yili and Sang communities in the Northern Region of Ghana are thriving.

He commended Dr. Atuahene’s love for the environment and humanity, which is evident in Safewings' ongoing support for reforestation in Ghana.
In response, Dr. Atuahene emphasized the importance of collaboration and partnership in addressing the climate crisis, highlighting that no single nation or organization can tackle it alone.
He lauded The Green Republic Project for its effective tree care interventions, underscoring the significance of nurturing seedlings post-planting.
“This commitment to sustainable practices is crucial for achieving Ghana’s environmental goals and contributing to global efforts against climate change,” he said. The Green Republic Project is a private initiative geared toward the mobilization of young people to plant 20 million trees across Ghana by the year 2028.
