The Ghana Police Service has refuted allegations of militia training in Bawku, Upper East Region.
This follows a publication that raised concerns about the matter.
In a statement issued on Facebook, the Police indicated that “investigation has found no evidence of such training in the area or its environs.”
“This is the second of such false publications within a week by some unpatriotic individuals intended to create unnecessary alarm and panic among the public,” it added.
The Police assured the public that they are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for spreading these false reports.

On August 19, the police denied the alleged training of militia at Kwahu in the Eastern Region in preparation for the 2024 general elections.
In warning the public against the publication of fake news, it added that investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for the false publication to come and answer for their actions in line with the due process of the law.
