The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially launched this year’s 'Tourism Month', urging Ghanaians to explore the nation’s rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and festivals.
The initiative, which takes place every September, is designed to boost domestic tourism by encouraging people to visit prominent festivals and tourist attractions across the country.
Speaking at the launch, the Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davies Opoku Ansah, who represented the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, "Tourism Month is observed each year in September and features a list of tourism-related activities and events such as festivals, musical concerts, tours, and climaxes with the World Tourism Day celebration on September 27."
He further noted, "This initiative is geared towards encouraging the patronage of prominent festivals, events, tourist sites, and attractions in the country, as well as highlighting the critical roles domestic tourism plays in growing an inclusive and sustainable tourism economy."
Tourism Month is part of Ghana’s broader domestic tourism marketing campaign, "Experience Ghana, Share Ghana" and "See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, and Feel Ghana." The objectives of the month include creating awareness and enthusiasm among the tourism private sector and the general public, promoting Made in Ghana goods and services, showcasing the unique natural and economic endowments of various districts and regions, and fostering national cohesion.
With a rich lineup of events including festivals, concerts, and tours, this year's Tourism Month promises to be an exciting celebration of Ghanaian culture and heritage, culminating in the World Tourism Day celebration on September 27. The GTA hopes that Ghanaians will seize this opportunity to discover the beauty and wonder of their own country.
