Basake Holy Stars coach, Abdulai Gazale, has revealed that pre-match comments from Hearts of Oak fans motivated his team to secure their shock victory on Sunday.
The Premier League debutants pulled off a surprising 1-0 win over Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Prince Tweneboah scored the decisive goal just two minutes into the match, marking an impressive start for Holy Stars on the opening weekend of the league.
Gazale, making his debut as a Ghana Premier League coach, said: "They underrated us. When you even hear people's comments before the game… I saw comments on their flyer, saying we should come and collect goals. If you disrespect your opponents, they will discipline you."
Holy Stars are set to face Dreams FC in their next Ghana Premier League match on Friday, 13th September 2024.
