The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has asked the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to find an alternative venue for Ghana's next home game after withdrawing its approval of the Baba Yara Stadium.
The Baba Yara Stadium received conditional approval to host Ghana's opening game against Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers on September 5.
However, CAF has come out with a revised decision following observations made from the Black Stars' fixture against the Palancas Negras.
According to the continent's football governing body, "the stadium did not meet the required standards for hosting Category 3 international matches."
A letter from CAF noted earlier concerns expressed by the continental body about the state of the playing field.
"It is important to note that, prior to the match, CAF had expressed concerns about the suitability of Baba Yara Sports Stadium for hosting top-tier international fixtures. Persistent issues at this venue, as well as others in Ghana, such as Cape Coast Stadium and Accra Sports Stadium, have also been noted."
With the absence of any other CAF-approved Category 3 stadium in the country, CAF has asked GFA to choose an alternative venue outside Ghana for the next round of games in the qualifiers.
Ghana will host Sudan in their next home game of the qualifiers with the fixture scheduled for October 11 before playing away to Kwesi Appiah's side four days later.
The Black Stars failed to win any of the first two games of the qualifying series, losing to Angola before picking up a draw against Niger.
