President Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed Ghana's commitment to good governance.
According to him, the country’s efforts in enacting laws and policies that ensure accountability and the protection of all citizens under the rule of law cannot be overemphasised.
He said during his address at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
“Ghana continues to be a beacon of good governance in Africa, we have enacted laws and implemented policies that uphold the principles of accountability and ensure that every Ghanaian, regardless of their background, is protected by the rule of law," he said.

Shifting the focus to global issues, President Akufo-Addo highlighted the international community’s struggle to address ongoing conflicts, particularly the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the war in Gaza and Lebanon.
He critiqued the UN Security Council for its inability to respond effectively.
“Take the Russian invasion of Ukraine, for instance. Millions of lives have been uprooted. 1000s have lost their lives, and yet the Security Council has struggled to respond decisively, just as it is struggling to make a decisive intervention in the tragic ongoing war in Gaza and Lebanon. The structure of the council reflects a world that no longer exists and it’s failure to act in times of crisis raises a difficult question; What is the purpose of the Security Council if it cannot intervene when the world needs it most?”
